How to import new indicator on MT4
Custom indicators add tools to MetaTrader 4 that aren't built in — installing one takes about a minute by dropping the file into MT4's Indicators folder.
1. Get the indicator file
Download the indicator (a .ex4 or .mq4 file) — for example from our forex indicators page.
2. Open the Indicators folder
In MT4, click File → Open Data Folder, then open MQL4 → Indicators. Copy the indicator file into that folder.
3. Refresh MT4
Right-click Navigator → Indicators and choose Refresh (or restart MT4). Your new indicator now appears in the list.
4. Add it to a chart
Drag the indicator from the Navigator onto any chart, adjust its settings, and click OK. Not sure which to use? See popular forex indicators explained.
